Meet La Reunión, a salsa collective rooted in Rotterdam, Netherlands and founded and directed by the talented viola player , Daniela Rivera. This ensemble consists of seven musicians coming from diverse corners of the globe, each bringing their own musical flavour to the mix. United by their love for Afro-Cuban rhythms, they found their musical home in the lively music scene of Rotterdam. What sets this ensemble apart is their unique instrumentation and personal approach to songwriting. With a Charanga-inspired setup that features viola and flute instead of the usual horn section, the band blends salsa, timba, and Latin jazz. Daniela, who comes from a background in classical music, channels her technical discipline and emotional depth into music that is deeply personal and story-driven songs that speak of identity, migration, family, and resilience. La Reunión has performed in important venues and festivals in the Netherlands, for example The Observant in Amersfoort, New Grounds and Nieuwe Luxor Theater in Rotterdam, North Sea Jazz Festival, Eendrachtsfestival and Breda Jazz Festival.
